Overview of the EPIC (Enterprises Promoting Investments in Cycling) Club
The EPIC Club is a group of cycling industry businesses who see the value in a united voice for bicycles at the federal level. Businesses that promote, sell, manufacture, and accessorize bicycles, as well as those who provide services related to bicycles and bicycle infrastructure, choose to join the EPIC Club in order to build a more bike-friendly Canada. Together, we recognize the economic, environmental, and social potential of cycling and work to grow the number of people who ride bikes in Canada.
The goal of EPIC is two-fold:
1) To enable Vélo Canada Bikes (VCB) to lobby for Canadians who cycle, the bicycle industry, and people who want to ride but cannot
2) To provide a knowledgeable and resourced voice in Ottawa for bicycle industry-specific issues

About the Launch
On November 7 2018, we launched the EPIC Club with a gathering in Ottawa.
Bicycle and parts manufacturers, suppliers, dealers, planning and engineering firms joined Vélo Canada Bikes (VCB) board members to discuss how enterprises and VCB can work together to advance cycling in Canada. We were joined by Randy Neufeld of the SRAM Foundation and Tim Blumenthal of People for Bikes who traveled from the US to share their thoughts and experience.
We spent a day with cycling equity and marketing guru Tania Lo, with a surprise visit from Johan Diepens, the CEO of Dutch engineering firm Mobycon and a powerful speech by the Hon. Maryam Monsef, Minister of Status of Women.
Key stakeholders who attended parts of the day included federal leaders and subject experts speaking on important topics like equity and marketing in the cycling industry. We also heard about emerging sales trends in Europe. It was followed by a half day rapid-fire strategic planning session and concluded with a trip to the Senate offices to hear from elected officials.
