Jess Spieker is a member of Friends and Families for Safe Streets (FFSS), and a survivor of road violence. T-boned brutally while riding her bike to work, Jess nearly died at the hands of a negligent person driving on unsafe infrastructure. This preventable, senseless crash inflicted a broken spine along with many other serious injuries and near-lethal complications. The painful devastation she experienced in the wake of the crash drives Jess to advocate for safe streets. Along with her colleagues at FFSS, Jess’ goal is to end traffic violence by changing street design, laws, enforcement, public attitudes and traffic culture.
